discolorization

Question
My golden yellow cichlid has started turning a bronze type color.  Is this caused by stress of adding another cichlid (smaller) to the tank?  Also, the golden cichlid would hide in a cave for long periods while people were present.  Would that have any factor?

Hi Chad,
  The color change could be the result of adding another fish, but it isn't necesarily stress.  It could be that the larger fish is a male and you added a female and so now the male is showing his breeding colors.
