AFRICAN WARF FROG IS BLOATED

TANK HAS BEEN SET-UP FOR 1 YR. I HAVE 10 GALLON TANK WITH 2 GUPPIES, 2 SHARKS. AND 2 OTHER TINY FISH. ANYWAY, MY GUPPIES HAVE "BUBBLES IN THEIR TAILS AND MY AFRICAN WARF FROG IS BLOATED. SHE'S BEEN LIKE THAT FOR A WEEK. THE WATER QUALITY IS GOOD, I JUST HAD IT TESTED AT THE PETSHOP. THEY
TOLD ME TO STOP FEEDING THE FISH SO MUCH. I WAS FEEDING TWICE A DAY.

MY KIDS ARE SAD. PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi Adela;

Make a 25% water change right away. You should make these 25% changes every week and vacuum the gravel at the same time. If you haven't been, now is a good time to start. Since the fish store suggested you had been overfeeding, there is probably excess waste buildup in there. It can easily lead to disease so the water change will help the fish and dwarf frog feel better.

The African Dwarf Frog may be infected with bacteria. That's what it is if it looks swollen all over like this picture; http://tinyurl.com/hm3ll

He needs an antibiotic called "Maracyn 2". It's available at most fish stores. Follow the instructions on the package. It absorbs into the skin of the frog to get to where the bacteria is.

The guppies may have a bacterial infection too. Keep doing weekly water changes and vacuum the gravel every 2 to 4 weeks. Being exposed to the antibiotic treatment for the frogs they may get better on their own.
