QuestionI just put gold fish in my 10 gallon tank that I have had ready for a week. After I put the fish in the water got very cloudy, that was yesterday. I got up today and there is about an 1/8 of an inch of foamy bubbles on the top. What can I do for this?
AnswerHi Ashley,
You had the right idea by having the tank ready for a week. Did you having it running with the filter during that week? If you didn't, then that is why the water went cloudy. If you did, I can't explain why your water went cloudy. The foam on top is either alot of oxygen build up in the water (good) or a nitrate or ammonia build up in the water (bad). To check for ammonia and nitrate, swirl the water with your finger. If it makes bubles that pop instantly (less than 5 seconds), then the foam is just and oxygen build up. If the bubles dont pop in less than 5 seconds, you need to buy a treatment for ammonia and nitrate.
I hope I helped,
James.
