betta community tank

hi Trish, im going to ask you another question because you have been incredibly helpful in the past. i now have a 10 gallon aquarium with a piece of plexyglass in the middle of it, and i have a betta on each side of the tank. they are loving it and even though they can see each other through the glass they have given up on trying to kill each other. i now wish to expand my tank and get some more fish, i know bettas like to attack other bettas, but are there any other breeds of fish that bettas will tolerate, ive heard neon tetras have worked, and i saw them co-existing on youtube, but i don't want to condemn some fish to death by consumption. do you think neon tetras would be tolerated, and if not are there any other breeds of fish that bettas dont hate?
