Question
Why do male betas fight female betas? And why do male betas try squeezing the eggs out?

Answer
Hi Diego,
Fighting and courting are closely related in a lot of fishes.  In bettas, the male wants a female to mate. If she doesn't mate, he doesn't want her around, hence the fighting.

The squeezing behavior is a normal part of courting and mating in most of the bettas and their relatives. It is very cool to see. Exactly why it occurs in these fishes and not in others is unknown (that is a good question!).
