Betta Fish Help

Question
I have had a male betta fish for about 2 months now, and, a few weeks ago, the
area around on the lower body, right behind the head, seems to be white and
enlarged. Is this normal or is something wrong?

Hi Wayne,
 It could be either.  Male bettas do swell a bit in the throat area as they mature.  The white is very hard to say. Bettas often change color so that could be normal to.  
The bottom line is that even if there was something wrong, there isn't really anything you could do about it and I strongly suggest that you NOT treat the fish "in case" something is wrong.  That would be a bad idea.
