re-betta pimple

Question
hello again Brittany

i have asked you a couple days ago a question about my betta that got a bloody pimple on the face.

you had suggested it could be columnaris, but i could not find the treatments you had suggested so i ordered them online. however the only available thing i could find was Binox. which i applied in half the suggested dosage since it seems to be very powerful.

however - with the bettafix that i was applying, with some epsom salt, the swelling almost disappeared, as well as the blood redness of the pimple. so now it is still there, but more whitish.

i hope it will go away with binox or the other antibiotics when they arrive.

however it seems that this pimple is also affecting the swimming of the fish. it could have some active moments,
but it tends to float almost sideways close to the surface. and totally lost appetite.

is it a bladder thing?

and also do you think binox was a good thing?

note: i forgot to mention that my betta is 4 years old.

Answer
Hey there,
Well it's good to hear that your betta is beginning to recover. Sometimes these things just go away once optimum water quality is kept up. The binox I agree should only be used at half dosage, especially since your betta seems to already be feeling better. Just remember to keep it up.
How much have you been feeding your betta? It is possible that he does have a bit of a swim bladder problem. This can easily be solved by not feeding him for the next 48 hours, then giving him small amount of shelled peas.
As far as age, my stepsister had a betta that lived for seven years, so hopefully your betta should have a few years left on him, though it is common that they die around three years of age.
Anyway, keep up the good work, and my best as always.
