uh oh

uh oh!
my gold fish which is a black moor just got scratched by an object in the aquarium which is a old ship toy for the fishes.
now he has a big scratch.
what do i do?
does he grow his scales back?
or is there a treatment for him?
do i feed him peas or what?
please help.

Hello kevin,
It's okay. First of all, remove that decoration from his tank so that won't happen again. You can replace his slime coat using either aquarium salt or some other conditioner such as stress coat or stress zyme and it will help to prevent an infection. He should be okay as long as his wound doesn't get infected and he doesn't stress out too much. Don't feel too bad. Write back if you have any other problems.
