Question
i have one oscar and my airstone just broke. could my oscar live through the night? i plan on getting a new airstone tomorrow. How long can they live without one?

Answer
Hi Alex,
He should be fine for a day or so.

An airstone is more important as the water gets warmer (because warm
water naturally holds less air).  So for instance, water up near 85oF, without an airstone would not have much air in it at all and you would see your fish having a great deal of difficulty breathing.  Water at 65oF has lots of air (but is too cold for an oscar to survive).
