guppy babies and cleaning tank

Question
QUESTION: Hi, I recently got some guppies and it turned out at least one was pregnant. I was planning on cleaning my tank but now that I have the babies I wonder if I should wait. I don't want to accidently suck up any of them in my gravel vaccum or upset them in any way.

Also, I was wondering if you could suggest a way to get some of the more stubbron alge off of my tank's walls that won't cause any harm to my fish.

Thanks!

ANSWER: Hello,
First of CONGRATS

Has your guppy given birth yet?
because if it hasnt you should get a floating hatchery because the guppies and if you have other fish, they will eat the fry, anyway you are ok to do water changes e.c.t as long as there smaller as water changes are good for there growth and health, but too much temp. change and there little bodies wont be able to take it.

You can buy small algea eating fish such as ottocinclus, which are excellent or you can get some snails, both good but the otto is better, they only grow to 4-6 cm

QUESTION: I already have the babies...that's how I knew someone was pregnant! They are about 2 weeks old and are doing well with the other fish suprisingly! I have an algea eater that doesn't seem to be keeping up with the demand in my tank. I have two boats in it and they are starting to get covered in a black fuzzy substance, is there a safe way to treat them? It's on my plants (real) as well. I've noticed my molly as well as my guppies trying to help out my algae eater and picking at it.

Answer
Oh right ok,
Yes the mollies will help with algea as they do like it.
you can either buy some more small algea eaters like i reccommended or you will probably need to change the sponge filter and do a 30% water change and clean it off with a sponge to sort it out for now.

There is also a thing i have heard of but never used called algea away i think, which supposedly kills it, so you can ask at your pet store.
