Our cichlid is alive but cant swim?!

Our cichlid jumped out of the tank. It was out no longer than a minute at most (30secs maybe) and when we got it back into the water, it immediately went belly up. It's still alive but isnt swimming. After about 45 minutes, he's right side up but still cant swim. Does this mean its ok and just needs time or is it dying? Its not belly up anymore but the fact that its still not moving around makes me feel that its dying

Hi Lauren,
 Being out of the water for 30 seconds is not a problem for a cichlid. Most cichlids can be out of the water for 3 or 4 minutes with no problems.  Hitting the ground is more of a problem and the fish might have been stunned.
