Question
IS IT GOOD TO OFFER DRIED FRUITS TO MY BUDGIE? DRIED BANANAS, PINEAPPLE? WHAT SHOULD I OFFER BESIDE SEED?
THANX

Answer
Dried foods are alright, but fresh are better.  When they're dried, some fruits lose a lot of their nutrients, and are often sweetened or salted.  If you can't get fresh fruit, try to find organic dried food, or natural fruits that don't have salt, sugar, or chemicals added.  Apples, cherries, or bananas are good.  Citrus fruits including oranges and pineapple can make them sick though.  Their bodies just don't tolerate them well.

Veggies are good for them too.  Carrots and cucumbers are good for them.  They can be a little picky, so just try a few things and see what your bird likes.  Lettuce is okay, but it doesn't have much nutrition in it, so it's not really worth it.  But don't feed them avocado because they will cause an allergic reaction which will almost certainly kill your bird.  Rhubarb can also be harmful.

Do not give your budgies anything with dairy in it.  Budgies are lactose intolerant.

Eggs are a good food for budgies, especially if you want them to breed.  Either hard boil it or scramble it, and let it come to room temperature, then feed it to the bird, shell included, but mashed into fine powder.  Eggs have protein, calcium, and healthy fats that will help keep your bird healthy.
