Head gelding

Question
Good morning, I just sold my herd of 6..3 mares, and 3 geldings to another farm that has 3 geldings. My head gelding is 8 and a registered QH. Is there a way to introduce him to the head gelding of the other herd without them hurting one another as they joist for the head position? This is my only concern..I will convey your answer to the new farms owners. I've always kept a new horse(s) kept separately in pastures that they can see and smell one another until I see them just standing across the fence from one another..with their heads close, and no aggregation showing.  Your response will be extremely helpful.. Thank you, Nicole Chantee

Answer
Hello,
Sounds like you already have some great ideas to introduce them and keep them safe. Could they be stalled next to each other so they could see each other? You could make sure to turn them out alone together so they wouldn't get to fighting about who belongs with who in the herd. Honestly, I just throw them in together, if I thought it could bet ugly I may ride in with them and if they get into it send them around a bit. I had a lead mare who had been kept alone her whole life because she was sooo aggressive- turned her out with the other lead mare and they screamed, kicked in the air......and then two minutes later ran off together as inseparable friends. I just like to let them be if everyone in the situation is comfortable with it.
Let me know how it all works out,
Best Wishes
