Hi Katrina,
So that I can try and give you with the best information, can you tell me how much experience you have with horses and how old the horse is? You are correct that this is a serious problem.

Answer
Hi Katrina,
If this is a new issue have you had him checked out by a vet to make sure there are no sight issues?

All animals have some sort of self defense system. For a horse that is kicking.

You have three choices. The one you mentioned which is to sell the horse. The second is to get a professional trainer and the third is to do it yourself.

Take a bucket of grain into the pasture as well as a lunge whip. If he turns towards you and does not try to kick then drop the whip, give him some grain and praise him. If he tries to kick you then snap the whip at him. If he tries to kick you again then hit him on the rump with the whip. Repeat as needed.
