how old does filly need to be before you start handling filly and putting on halter to teach her to follow lead my filly is 18 days old her mother is quarter horse and father is andelusion

Hi Randy,

You can certainly start doing things with her now, specifically desensitizing her and getting her used to you touching her everywhere, picking up her feet for a few seconds, putting a halter on and off, brushing her with a soft rag. I usually tell people to hold off working on leading until they are a month old, so they are stronger on their feet and then to start with a soft guiding rope (often called a butt rope).
