thrush affecting hind feet

Question
hello ma'am, i read an article in internet that thrush affects only the hind feet of the horse. is it correct? why not the fore feet?

Answer
Rohit,

Thrush can develop in any of the horse's feet.

Sometimes if horses are kept in tie stalls which are not kept clean, thrush may more likely develop in the hind hooves as that is where the droppings would be.

If their box stalls are not kept clean, or a compromised hoof pick is used, thrush can develop in any hoof.

They need to be picked out at least twice daily, and the cleft of the frog carefully cleaned out.

If thrush develops, it needs to be treated as it can lead to lameness.
