AnswerHello Hannah
Thanks for the question and I will try my best to help
Firstly NO horse should be ridden until at least 4 years of age, their bones are still forming and their bodies are growing. He is not strong enough to have anyone no matter how small or light on his back at 12 months old.
Now you can start training them from an early age. firstly to accept a head collar and teach him to quielty walk beside you and stand quietly as well, then you can teach him to pick up his feet so that the farreir will not be a shock to him and teach him, to stand quietly in his stable and outside for the vet as well.......... you can start playing some ground games with him, getting him to follow you round the school, but at this stage no saddles no riding him, he just cannot take that!
