ponying the new horse of mine

hello, is ponying a green horse or a new horse to my stable good? if yes, first should i pony the green horse bareback or should i fasten the  saddle and then pony it? for how much time to pony the horse?

I do not pony horses.

You may want to ask advice of someone who does on a regular basis.

Ground work is CORRECT lungeing, and also long lining,  and then when the horse is supple and correctly muscled and quiet and balanced on the lunge I lunge the rider on him.

That is how I start all my young horses.
