Playdays

Question
Can I ride english in a playday? I'm a show jumper, and would like to give my new to showing appendix gelding more experience with the show ring. So would it look odd if I ride english in a playday?

I am not really sure what a Playday is?  I am assuming it is like a little fun show type of event, if I am correct it is perfectly acceptable to ride english.  If I am assuming wrong, please let me know what a playday is and we will go from there.
