Question
Our colt bred his dam and we are now concerned that she may be pregnant.  Are there concerns of deformaties, etc., and has this happened before with success?

Answer
Dear Jody,
Imbreeding on a level that high can cause deformities, weakness in the foal, death to the foal, misscarriage, early birthing (giving birth before foal is fully formed) It has happened before i am sure, it depends on what you want to do about it.
You can either choose to abort the foal, or wait and see if the foal is going to be okay, in SOME cases the foal is okay but you have a slim chance of that. Even if the foal survies his first year he/she could end up with long term health problems that could cost you thousands. Imbred horses are generally weaker then others.
Talk to your vet to decide what would be your best option, i can only give you the facts i can't make the decision for you.
