Question
Hi Amanda,
Not sure if I can explain this well enough for you to answer or if you will know anyway. My retired horse is quite hairy so it was only when I was running my fingers over a thick whirl of hair under his belly, that I noticed a long hard parallel ridge extending from one side of his sheath to half way along his stomach. The other side has a ridge too but not so prominent. Can you tell me what should be in this area? He looks perfectly well in himself and I'm dithering a bit if he needs the vet to look at it.
Many thanks for your time.
Sally

Answer
hi sally,
your right that is hard to describe im not really sure what to think. the only advice i can give ypu is if its not itchy, pussy, bleeding, infected, swollen,or tender to the touch everything is ok. if you want a vet to look at it it wont hurt anything and you will get a correct answer. if its not bugging your horse though i dont see the need to have a vet come out. good luck with your decision.
