Question
Hello, I was wondering if you new anything about Hippotherapy? I would like to study this program through college but I don't know what degrees to get in order to work in this field. Also, I am an Ohio resident. Upon graduation or maybe before what state is will offer the most hippotherapy for work?

Answer
Smantha,

I take it that this is a follow-up post to your first one that I just answered.  Hippotherapy is very much an up and coming field.  The horses that pull the caissons in military funerals in Washington, D.C. are also being used to provide hippotherapy to returning soldiers.  Find a handicapped riding facility in your area and volunteer with them as a way to gain experience.  Make sure that they have at least one person there certified in hippotherapy.  But it can do amazing things.  I have worked on a number of the horses used for this as a massage therapist, all done pro bono, because the horses have a lot of physical issues of their own because of the type of work they do and they are often older horses that have been retired from a more active career.  Again, your school would be the best source for info on where to go after school.
