Questionhello sir, would you suggest a thoroughbred racehorse trainer to race 2 year olds with steel shoes for protecting their fragile feet when racing is conducted on turf? i believe that 2 year old racehorses have fragile feet. am i right?
AnswerHello Rohit,
I wouldn't really consider their feet to be fragile. Their hoofs are sufficiently developed for them to do anything they can physically do. So if they can run, their hoofs can handle it. Think about the wild horse. They out run predators at an even earlier age and their hoofs don't break down.
I would recommend to a trainer that they consider all options. They should consider what will serve the horse and the trainer.
