Question
I am a sophmore in highschool. I am enrolled in a research science program at my school. I wanted to do a project on putting a horse out at night and how it effects the amount of moisture in a horses hoof. I was wondering if there was any way to accurately and logically measure the moisture.
Are there any sort of indicators?
Preferabley something cheap,
thank you so muchh.

Answer
HELLO ROSE...THANK YOU FOR YOUR QUESTION...

After 37 yrs. I don't BELIEVE so...sorry.

We are told as farriers and veterinarians that the hoof capsule
is more or less 80% moisture. Naturally, because of extremes in
weather and environments; it fluctuates greatly.

You might try a Veterinary college close to you and try and get with
someone that does vascular study/work and MAYBE through lab
work they can be more accurate than myself on the subject.

Thank you for writing...
