hind heels running down as they grow older

Question
hello sir. in general, do few horses's heels run down as they grow older especially the hind heels? i work in a thoroughbred racing stable where my boss(trainer) changed the shoeing of a 3 year old filly which is running tomorrow in the last race. she had normal plain shoes on all four legs with rubber paddings on the fore. tomorrow she is running with wedge pads on the hind legs while shoeing on the fore legs are same.

Answer
HELLO CAINE...THANKS FOR YOUR QUESTION...

No...They don't, unless the trimming or shoeing of the horse has been "changed" alot through
the horse's career and NOT beneficial to the horse !!

As far as making a "change" before a race, (MY OPINION & The opinion of Many!!)
IT is always risky  and many horses DON'T adapt to sudden changes easily.
As I have said before "wedging" ANY horse up you ARE not only changing the hoof angle
but realigning the joints !!  In other words..."Cause & Effect".

Best to You !!
