Navicular Fracture...

Question
Hi. Today I had my 2 yo spotted draft xrayed after following 'abcess' treatment for 10 days and found that she has a fracture in her navicular (hind leg).  The prognosis the vet gave me was very grave - basically surgery costing $$ I cannot afford or putting her down.  I did not get the digital images before I left today but plan to get them tomorrow.  I'm so confused about what sort of treatment options that I have.  Can you point me in the right direction?

Answer
HELLO MICHELLE...THANK YOU FOR YOUR QUESTION...

I have answered many navicular fracture questions before...you might check with some of my previous answers.

Being a draft breed, and a hind limb, surgery has THE BEST chance.
In as many as I've been on...hind limbs are tougher because the
animal HAS to push off the hind hoof and limb.
The prognosis is not real good.
I wish I could give you more.

Best to You...
