Help me, please.

Can my mother purchase Amoxicillin, and give it to my turtle? If so, do we have to get rid of the filter, so it doesn't get rid of it?

My Turtle is 5 years old, a Western Painted turtle, male, his name is Tiny.

A few months ago I noticed him, what seemed to be yawning. I thought nothing of it. It started to get progressively worse. We took him to a doctor(Dr. Diaz, Lake Howell Animal Clinic). After a few doctor visits, and a few hundred dollars later, they finally gave him 7 dosages (injections) of tazicef, after informing us that he had pneumonia, due to the cold freezes this past winter, (cold air, warm water). The last injection we gave him was at the end of July. The doctor also told us that heat, and clean water would help, and also a bigger tank, but we don't have the money for a new one (Would you know anyone with a 40 Gallon breeder tank, that we could buy from them? Or any websites?). Still, he is gasping. Tonight he made a LOUD popping noise, like he was trying to breathe through a big bubble of mucus. I cried so hard I could barely stand. The doctors gave us an option of getting a stronger drug, but we just don't have the money. Please, you have to help. Something, anything. I have had him since he was the size of a quarter, and I will not lose him to pneumonia.

Also NO she can nt just buy the antibiotics and start it, there are several that are toxic to the turtle.
