Sugar gliders and thier joeys

Question
Hello. I am an owner of two sugar gliders, one male the other female. The female recently had two joeys, and they are now 3 days out of the pouch. This is my first time dealing with newborns and I was wondering if there is a special diet I am supposed to put the mother on so she can get nutrients to her babies? Also how can I tell the gender of the joeys? Am I supposed to seperate the father from the babies? And is it bad that the mother keeps one joey in her pouch and leaves the other one unattended? I dont want her to reject her baby, this is her first litter. Also the father is not paying much attention to the joeys either and the mother has been making lots of crabbing and hissing noises lately usually when the father is around. I dont want her to be stressed out. Is there anything I can do to help? Any other tips on caring for joeys are greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Answer
Please just let them be..

A coupled / bonded pair of gliders care for it's babies as a team.. Mom will do what her instincts tell her to do.. Daddy will soon be helping tote the little ones around.. It truly is best to leave them alone tho I know it is hard to do being new babies bring a LOT of excitement into a household..

Babies will make an appearance when they are ready.. usually on mom or dad's back and some days not at all.. Mom leaving a baby or both in the pouch is quite normal as they do not want the babies exposed to threat or could be predators such as humans or cats etc.

Some mothers deform & kill their babies (which is also normal) but it sounds as if she is doing just fine.. feed her normally maybe a little xtra to compensate.. also offer a liquid form as babies get older (hopefully you feed a nectar/liquid form already) and they will learn from mom n dad about how and when & where to feed as they get bigger.. U can start handling the babies around 8-9 weeks OOP in preparations of getting them used to new homes.. at that time you will see who is boy & who s girl.. (same as w/ adults)

hopes this helps & have FUN in being a new glider god parent.. :)
