Sudden death of Ball Python

Question
I had my ball python for almost a year, his eating habbits have never been that good, and figured out it was because he was use to live mice, so i switched. I finally got him eating regularly and he seemed to be doing fine, then all of a sudden I found him dead last night, I fed him live mice three nights ago and he seemed to be doing fine the day after. And when I picked him up he was bleeding from the mouth, do you have any idea what could have caused his death? Could it have been from the mice?

Answer
It is possible for mice to inflict a fatal wound on a snake. When I have a snake that only takes live mice I always stun the mouse before putting it into the snake's cage. Still, it sounds kind of strange for a fatal wound to be in your snake's mouth. The only way to determine a cause of death for sure is to have a vet perform a necropsy on the snake.

Sorry to hear about your loss.
