Questionmy bearded dragen has not eaten in about 5 days the pet store said that it might take about another week or so is that correct or should I be worryed his stools are like water
AnswerHi Chris, I'm assuming that you have just acquired your bearded then? It is true that many reptiles will refuse food for up to a week or more when they have been relocated to a new environment. The watery stools are a bit of a concern however. The stress of such a change can also temporarily compromise the immune system which can lead to a flare-up in the number of intestinal parasites such as coccidia and pinworms. Both of these are extremely common in beardeds. It is always a good idea to have an initial faecal test done on a new bearded to determine the status of these common parasites. Even a vet that does not specialize in reptiles would be able to identify these from a faecal sample and phone-consult for the appropriate treatment.
With luck the watery stools may just be a stress reaction as well and they will firm up in a few days. If you are noticing any lethargy as well and the lack of appetite continues beyond the 8 - 10 day mark I think a vet assessment is your best option.
This is an excellent and comprehensive site for BD care, good luck with him.
