Baby green iguana problem

Question
Hi i've had my green baby iguana for about 2 months and i think he is roughly about 3-4 months old. He is also roughly around 12 inches long in total.

Recently i noticed he has been sitting in the same spot not doing anything in his tank for about a week and he also hasnt touched or eaten anything in a week. He looks like he hasn't lost any weight and his eyes are always open and is quite alert espically when i try to take him out or clean his tank out he usually runs about like crazy. But am just worried as he hasnt eaten for at least a week!

I usually feed him green beans, carrots, collard greens,Frisee, endive, romaine lettuce and either some apple or strawberry. i also ocassionally give him iguana pellets but he doesnt seem interested in them. All veggies are finely chopped and i dust his food every 2-3 days with either calicum or iguana dust.

i keep a basking bulb and a UVB tube in his tank. The temperatures near the basking spot is around 92F and i use a 5% repti glo tube which he can get 6-8 inches from the bulb.

Although he doesnt look too sick should i give him abit of avipro plus or t-rex hydro life?

Any info to help him get eating will be appreicated thanks

Answer
Hi Ken, Reptile appetites are very temperature dependent. Your basking temperature is toward the lower end of the recommended range. Try raising it so that it is around 100F, even a bit over that is fine. Your diet for him sounds fine, the leafy greens should comprise the bulk of it with the veg. making up the smaller portion. Carrots are rather high in oxalates to be used as a regular staple but can be used in rotation with other veg. like squash and sweet potato. As much variety as you can provide is best when it comes to diet.If you have access to a  mulberry or hibiscus plant in your neighbourhood these leaves are usually relished by herbivores.
Iguanas get a large amount of their fluid through their food, you might want to spray him a bit more to make sure he remains properly hydrated until he begins eating well again.
I don't think you need to be overly worried just yet. With no other signs of illness I suspect that this is primarily behavioural.
You may want to reduce the handling a bit until he returns to his normal appetite as well. Young iguana often go through a dramatic attitude change about being handled as they get a bit older and can become stressed by the same handling they tolerated as hatchlings. Stress will diminish their appetite. I rescued a young baby last summer that was found on someone's patio. He tolerated daily handling and ate from my hand until he was about 6 months old. At that point he suddenly acted like I wanted to make a stir-fry out of him. He only eats now if I am not in the room! The on-line reptile question forums are filled with people asking why their baby iguana suddenly became so aggressive or frightened. It is a common stage for them to go through.

Bump his temperature up a bit, tempt him with a few different greens, keep him hydrated and keep his stress level down and I really think he will be fine.
