QuestionI currently own a Russian desert tortoise. I was looking into getting a gecko. With the little research I've done I'm looking into a leopard gecko. Is it possible to house these two species together? Or is there a different species that would be better to have with a desert tortoise?
AnswerHello Valerie,
No, do not put a leopard gecko in with a tortoise. It is never a good idea to mix species due to Zoonosis problems. The only thing you can house with a desert tortoise is another turtle, that has the same husbandry requirements as your desert tortoise.
It is always best to house the same species together because they all have different personalities as well which alot of times just do not do well housing with another species.
