Neutered Rabbit mounting young female

Question
hello! Last year, we received a rabbit who we think is now around 3 years old. Just 2 weeks ago, we had him fixed because we have taken up a 7 week old female rabbit. yesterday we put the 2 together to see how to let them say hello but after 10 minutes removed them. Our male never stop trying to mount this baby rabbit. How do we go about introducing these 2 or will they always have to be apart? Thank you so much for any advice you can give us! Answer
This process can take weeks. You're on the right track, and there are indeed many tips that may help you.

There is an FAQ on how to successfully (and gradually) introduce rabbits who are not taking to one another immediately at
http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/introductions.html

Also, since he has only been neutered two weeks, he is still in the habit of wanting to mount, especially since he was neutered relatively late in life. He will always probably mount, but the frequency should wane over time. In addition, many mature rabbits are rather bullying toward bunnies. You may want to expose them to one another by having their cages or play areas close together, but wait until she gets a bit older before starting the introduction process in earnest.

Also, as the female begins to mature sexually, she may begin to mount him when they are placed together. Mounting is not only sexual behavior but dominance behavior practiced by both sexes and partially hormonally driven. I would encourage you to have her spayed when she is old enough (5 or 6 months at minimum) both to avoid the most  aggressive of this behavior and the health problems many female rabbits have involving the uterus in their middle and older years.

Good luck!
