Bloating

Hi,

In the past week, my rabbit has been consuming tons of water (way more than normal) and is now very bloated in his stomach.  What can I do?

Dear Alli,

Excessive drinking and excessive urination can be a sign of renal disease.  If the abdomen is distended, it's possible your bunny is not flushing the fluids from his system.  He needs immediate veterinary attention, including bloodwork and a complete health check.  This could be very serious, and it's not something you should leave unchecked by a good rabbit vet:

It is also possible that the bloating is not directly related to the excessive drinking.  He may have an intermittent obstruction, or just be gassy.  Please read:
