Question
Hi, my British Giant rabbit has not been eating properly for about 5 days now,
i notice on Wednesday that she has not touched her food over night and this
is so unlike her as she normally eats loads, i have taken her to the vets who
sedated her and filed back her back molars as he thought although they were
not too bad there was a slight sharp edge on one. She will only eat when
encouraged i have been hand feeding her recovery herbs, she will nibble a
little on carrot apple and weetabix and slowly she seems to be eating a few
pellets but still no where near what she was eating before ill.  i wondered if
this is because her stomach may have shrunk due to less food and will
therefore take a little while to get back to her usual diet and i should be
patient.  She has also been losing her balance a little my vet advises me that
she is just weak from less food intake and this should improve. today she is
still nibbling at bits of random food, should i just be pleased that she is
eating at all and persist.  i am a concerned bunny owner who lost my rabbit
last year from not eating at all for 3 days and he just died on me, i have taken
this week of work to be with her so any advice to improve her health would
be most appreciated.  thanks Donna

Answer
hello donna

firstly think positive, im sure she will be ok :-)

its good that she is eating, even though it is only small amounts of food, try giving her some different types of food such as apple, celery, cuecumer and of course hay. also try feeding her some yummy treats.

make sure you keep her nice and cool as she may want to eat more,

hope this helps and let me know if i can help you with anything else.
