Chipped tooth

Question
Hi have a three year old bunny, last night she started biting on her cage bar asking to come out for a run, however I was too tired/half asleep. The next morning when she was out I checked her teeth and found a small chip on her top left incisor. It's chipped off at the bottom corner but it's small. I can't seem to find the chip tooth. If she swallowed it, what are the risks? And what symptoms do I have to look out for the next few days? She seems to be eating and pooping normally now. Thank you(: your advise would be much appreciated

Answer
Hi Abigail,

Rabbits teeth are similar to our fingernails.  It would be very unlikely that if she did swallow the chip that it would cause any issues.  What you really need to watch out for is the tooth itself.  Keep an eye on how it is growing back and if it is not growing back straight she has a chance of developing malocclusion and may need teeth trimmings on a permanent basis.  Just make sure she continues to eat, drink and pass normal fecal pellets.  If there is any change in behavior she would need to be seen by a vet.  Other than that she sounds like she is doing fine.
