Question
we have a gazebo in our back yard with mulch around the perimeter of the cement patio area from a recently downed banyan tree...our resident bunny just came into the gazebo area and dug a nesting depression into the mulch and stayed there for about a half hour and then got up and we saw the baby rabbit in the depression area...what should we do to make sure the mother isn't afraid to tend to the newborn since the gazebo is out in the open somewjat and there are sometimes people around...will the mother continue to care for the baby if we are nearby?...do we need to do anything special?...thank you...karen baker

Answer
Dear Karen,

If this is a wild rabbit, then I would do nothing. Mama knows how to take care of her baby and will do the job just fine.  :)

If this is a domestic rabbit, then that's a different story.  Please write to me for more information if this is the case.

I hope it's a wild bunny, and that you enjoy watching the baby grow and develop into a beautiful adult.
