rabbit breeding

Question
We thought we bought 2 female rabbits. Our daughter noticed them breeding over the last couple of months. We thought they were just showing dominence over eachother. However today we found a massive nest of hair in their litter box. What does this mean.

Answer
Hi Piper. If you have a male and female rabbit I would assume you are going to have babies! Your female has built a nest and can have her young any time. You will need to remove the male to a cage of his own. If you do indeed have two females(they will ride on one another at times) then you have a female which is going through a false pregnancy. Either way you need to separate them to their own cages. Let me know what happens here and if there is any thing I can assist with in the future. Sounds like congratulations are in order though.    Pat
