Question
QUESTION: Yes my bunny hasnt been hopping on its back leg yet but it will sit on it. i took him to the vet and he said its just swollen and bruied on the leg he didnt feel anything broken. He hurt it on monday and nots its thursday.i just want to be eassured hes right.that all it is is a pulled muscle or as vet said soft tissue thing. Hes eating and drinking and moves around in cage.

ANSWER: Hi,

I can't assure you one way or the other, not being a vet or even seeing your rabbit.

if you aren't certain the vet is right, you need to check with another vet, a better rabbit vet.  You can look here:

www.rabbit.org/vets/vets

to find a House Rabbit Society recommended vet near you.

I would probably think the vet is correct, as your boy is eating and drinking.  A break could give him a lot of pain and he'd probably be in too much pain to eat and drink.

One thing you could do is call up the vet that examined him and ask if he would give your rabbit some metacam you can give him twice a day - metacam is a very safe/good painkiller for rabbits, and it also helps to reduce swelling (anti-inflammatory).  It could be very useful in making life better for your guy while he's dealing with the leg problem.

Also if your rabbit is outside in a cage I would consider keeping him indoors.  Generally there aren't the same things inside the house that can attack/spook an outdoor bunny to injure itself.  I don't know if he's kept outdoors from your note, but if he is I'd recommend having him as an indoor house rabbit.

QUESTION: Yes ive been keeping him in a carry cage and the vet tld me to give him baby aspirin one a day. sSo ive ben giving him that. Evidentally they dont have that medicine. Ya hes not loud tooth grinding that hes in any pain and he moves around in cage. Ya the vet does have it there but didnt say anything about it.

Answer
Hi,

the baby aspirin is okay just make sure he drinks enough water around the time he takes it.  The metacam isn;t just good for pain, but reduces swelling as well.  It's a little stronger and actually less rough on the stomach than the baby aspirin.  The aspirin will reduce swelling as well too.
