Rabbit incontinence

Question
Hi Dana. I have a lovely five year-old neutered male house rabbit who has always been very good and used his litter tray. Recently though, he has started weeing under the bed (near where he likes to sleep) near his water bowl and in another of his favourite spots. Sometimes the location of his urination is random. He is still using his litter tray too, so I wondered if perhaps he was becoming incontinent. He seems fine otherwise, eats plenty of hay and greens and most of his food. Can you help? The carpet is getting ruined! Thanks :)

Answer
Dear Rachel,

Sudden changes in litterbox habits can signal a urinary tract problem such as bladder sludge, urolith (bladder stone) or urinary tract infection.  Because your boy has always had good box habits, it's time to get him to a good, rabbit-savvy vet for a complete checkup including his urinary tract.  Please see:

and find a vet here:

I hope he will be fine soon.
