Rabbit with lumps in her belly

Question
I just purchased 4 dutch does from a lady. At first glance they all appeared to be in good shape. She did say they had ben bred before but did not indicate that any of them had been bred recently or were believed to be pregnant. I got them all home and put them in a playpen in the yard to observe them and they all checked out the new surroundings and one even decided to show her dominance. I then put them in their new houses. I came home today to find my choc ducth who has a very small frame just sitting there. I picked her up to check her out and noticed several different sized lumps in her abdomen. Is it possible she was bred and miscarried or could these be tumors?

Answer
Hi Lesley,

It is very possible she could have been bred.  Some people don't have very good record keeping skills.  It is also possible that when she told you they had been bred that she meant now not in the past.  If she has lumps in her belly they could be babies.  It could also be cancer.  Without an examination by a rabbit savvy vet there is no way to tell.  Babies tend to be in the lower abdomen but so does cancer.   If you don't have a rabbit savvy vet you can try here:

Good luck
