Clogged Pores/Ingrown Hairs

While brushing my Pot Belly Pig, I noticed a hard spot on her skin (the spot was not bulging or a lump, just tougher).  I found what appeared to be and ingrown hair and pulled it. It revealed a pit in her skin.  When I applied pressure to the hard area, a long toothpaste consistency ooze of sebum came out (I did not notice any foul odor).  I wouldn't be too concerned except the hard spot is quite large, and the amount of stuff that came out seemed to be a lot.

Any clue as to what this is, and if I should be concerned?

I want to find out so that I can contact our vet if need be.

I am not a veterinarian and can not make a medical diagnosis over the internet. But, this sounds like an ordinary ingrown bristle.

I am guessing this was on her neck or back, where the mowhawk bristles grow. The skin here is tough and thick. That makes it difficult for bugs to bite, and sometimes difficult for bristles to poke through. If this happened on her soft belly or inner legs, then it's most likely a bug bite.

A third possibility is a small animal bite. The tiny teeth can't penetrate very far into pig skin, but they dump a lot of germs in. The tiny puncture heals quickly locking the germs beneath the skin. A bite usually leave two, three or four tiny pits close together, or possibly one big one. Rodents or snakes are the usual culprits.

Either way, chances are it will heal and completely disappear in a day or two.
