Finding a pet shop that wont sell my babies as feeders!!

Question
I have several baby rats and I simply cannot keep them. I am desperate to find a pet shop that will only sell them as pets. There are none in my town. I am fairly close to Nashville and the surrounding area though. Is there a database or do you have any contacts? I can't bear the thought of them being eaten by a snake.

I also have a female rat that bites. She has baby nows, so that may explain it. But, before she had babies she would bite. I don't know what to do with her? Is setting them free in the wild a bad idea?

Answer
I can't help you with the pet shop situation. I'm in California and I have no idea what the TN situation is like.

Secondly, your female. Was she a biter while she was pregnant, did you own her before she was pregnant, and did she continue to bite? Do NOT under any circumstances let her loose. That would be a definate death sentence and no rat deserves that. After she weans, try basic trust training. Let her come to you, and when/if she comes to you in a non-aggressive manner (even if she's shy), offer her a favored treat. Don't push her or force her to do anything, just let her learn that you're not a bad guy. Obviously if this rat is aggressively lunging at you to attack you, that is a whole different situation and should be approached differently. Let me know if that is the case.
