Amoxil not working!!!

Question
This is really frustrating, i have limited medican and none seem to work!

Boo Boo has been sick since late Feburary. In March she went on Bayrtil, did great but relapsed. Went onto Chlorpalm, did nothing but surpress the symptoms a little. Then i finally got Amoxil the 3rd day she sounded fine, but today she sounds the worse i have ever heard her, very congested and sounds like a monkey crossed with an owl as you say LOL. She has not gotten to the point of gasping or not eating or anything like that....yet.

What should i do? If you could give me a list of antibiotics or steroids i could use please tell me. I said list because iam sure my vet wont have 99.9% of what you are going to say but i would like rule out all possibilities.

I turn to you and not the vet because he has a little rat book he uses to look up medican to use and he chose Chlorpalm, not what i need.

Poor Boo Boo also got a bit rough with the other rat and her arm is all swollen and it hurts, i wish i could give her motrin or ibprofen but i dont want to mix that with the Amoxil she is given as well. She certainly looks pitifull right now.

STEROIDS

Steroids are often helpful when the rat has become chronically ill due to scarring of the lungs which can occur
with chronic outbreaks of mycoplasmosis.  Often a secondary infection sets in. Steroids can compromise the immune
system so use of antibiotics during treatment is important to prevent any new infection.

PREDNISONE
ORAL SOLUTION 1mg/mL    .25 to 1mg/lb SID, PO
.25 to 1cc/lb

ANTIANXIETY drugs

This is used successfully in rats that suffer from respiratory distress. It is a known fact when a rat is anxious they cannot breathe. When they are calm they breathe much easier. There is no reason to NOT use this drug on rats with respiratory conditions.

Diazepam

using no more than .10 mls
can take less if rat is too sleepy taking .10 mls  depending on the weight of the rat!  Do not use with ERYTHROMYCIN or it can increase the sedative effects.
