QuestionI have a 1 month old rat. He was just taken away from his mother and siblings. He won't eat anything. He has fruit, seeds, carrots and dog treats in the bowl. He is my first rat and I didn't know it was important to have at least 2 rats. I got him from a local science class as he was to be snake food. I am going to get one of his brothers on Monday since I believe he is scared and lonely. Do you have any advice?
Answer4 weeks is a bit too young to wean in my opinion, try offering him some watered down lab block. He needs a staple diet like a block instead of seed, eliminate most of the seed entirely, and limit the fruit and carrots to a tablespoon once a week.. on little guys it'll give them horrible diarrhea and that can be deadly. And yes, get him a friend.
