strange lump on rattie skin colour change?

Hi Sandra,

Hope your well, I've mailed you many times previously regarding my girl - Anju.  I have a new problem now for which I wonder if you can help?!

She has what appears to be a lump on her belly.  I've experienced many tumors with my girls, and this reminds me of a tumor - but it seems greyish in colour which i've never seen before!  At the moment its quite small, it was first noticed just as a grey mark a couple of days ago, I saw it for the first time today and upon feeling it, its soft like a lump.

Any ideas? why would it be greyish? I don't know how to explain really.....that particular area of her skin appears to have changed to grey.

any ideas?

Sorry it took so long to get to you. I am on vacation and forgot to put myself on hold so I am trying to do fun vacation stuff plus keep up with my rattie friends!


Have  you tried to hold a warm compress on it to see if it comes to a head? It may possibly be an abscess, esp if its that strange color.
No scab? Is there a hole or is it sunken in at all?  
It could look that way due to the skin being thinner in that area too...or it could be filled with pus or fluid.

Lets try a warm compress and see if it comes to a head in a day or two.  Let me know right away!

It could also be a lipoma. I am seeing alot of them lately and hearing alot about them from readers too.
