Fleas on my poor rats!

Question
I have a problem I have been dealing with for the past 2 weeks, and a friend suggested I ask you here. I recently moved from the city into the country, and for the first time got fleas. The old owners told me that living so close to the river and the weather being so humid means they are bad here in the summer. I treated my cats, dog and carpet, and vacuumed daily, however they seem to be resistant to everything. NOW, I am finding them on my three rats! They are miserable and I am desperate. I planned to buy them kitten revolution today as it is payday but my company messed up the paychecks and it will be next week before I see mine. So what can I do for them?? I spent all my spare cash on treating the other animals and now don't have any more without my check. The only thing I have left here is one vial of the Revolution for cats (5-15 lbs.) and I don't want to put it on them without knowing if it is safe or how much to use. I gave them each a bath, to get any biting adults off, but am at a loss as to what to do next. My silvered black male actually has little sores now from scratching that I saw when his fur was wet.

So please anything to make my babies more comfortable???

Answer

The concentration is the same for both kitten or cat revolution so you can use either one. There is just more liquid in the tube for cats.

As for the dose:
'
A 1lb rat is 456 grams.

To safely dose a rat with revolution (selemectin) apply between shoulder blades once every 3 to 4 weeks the following doses:

for a rat that weighs under 1lb to 1/2 lb:  0.02cc to 0.05cc if they are close to a pound and the lower dose should be for a smaller rat that is closer to half a pound.

For rats that weigh 1lb and over:

For a 1lb rat, 0.07cc and for a rat that over one pound to one and a half pounds: 0.10cc

Closer to 2lbs should get around 0.12cc.

I use a syringe with a needle and draw it out that way. I remove the needle before application.
