rattie teeth. normal?

Question
i noticed tonight that a few of my girls' bottom teeth seem to be bowed out, in other words, gappy towards the top. i have to say, when i first noticed this, i paniced and went straight to researching it online to see if this indicated some type of problem.

i didn't have much success in finding many sites that had pictures of normal teeth or abnormal teeth, much less anything that resembled what i saw. i only found one site that mentioned something about the bottom teeth moving as part of the "gnawing" process and it seemed to imply that it was a normal function for them to sort of move out and in.

as this site only implied this and did not get too specific, i was wondering if this is true or if there is something wrong with my girls' teeth.

thank you in advance for your answer.

Answer

Hi!

Please check my website out.  I have a page devoted to rats teeth including a photo of the bottom of them where you can clearly see the V or spacing between them. The bottoms do "v" out and actually act like scissors in a cutting movement.  Check out my site for more written info, including explaining the myth that rats need to gnaw something daily or their teeth will grow out of the roof of their mouth!
Please let me know if you can access the site ok. Some folks have had problems with it lately.

SIDE NOTE:

I think I will add more photos on that page. Thank you to the readers that write in and give me more ideas on how to make my website more informative than what it is now.  Also if anyone has photos of their rats teeth close up and clear photos, send to Sandyscrittercity@yahoo.com
