feeding lactating rat cat food

hi. I have read a lot that feeding kitten food to rats is good for them when they're nursing. Is this true, and if so, how much should i give them a day in addition to the rat blocks? thanks so much!

I would not use kitten food as it is too high in protein and fats.
What you can add to the diet is soy milk or soy baby formula and to boost her iron you can scramble her an egg every few days. Also, for high quality animal protein offer her white chicken breast or beef livers.         I would offer vegetables on a daily basis as well, such as cooked carrots and peas. Canned are fine.
