Question
A mate of mine wants to breed his male rat with mine but they are brother and sister. i have said i need to find out if it is ok but i don't want to breed them if any problems will occur in the parents or the litter.

Answer
It's never a good idea to inbreed rats.  Though the offspring would most likely be fine, there is a much higher chance of birth defects, poor health, and other genetic problems occurring.  It would be much more preferable to breed your rat with an unrelated male, or even better to not breed at all.  There are many unwanted rats in the world and it can be very hard to find homes for a litter of up to 20 babies.  If you are serious about breeding I would recommend you get in touch with a rattery near you and start with quality breeding stock so you aren't breeding pet store rats which are probably already inbred.  I hope everything goes well, whatever you choose, good luck!
